We specialise in teaching young children from 6-months to 8-years of age to swim, with one-to-one private tuition or group sessions for older children and adults also available.

We’ve all heard and agonised over the all too frequent stories of children being lost in garden ponds or even deep puddles.

Aquability was established in 2005 by Carrie Sumpter who, having gained ASA Swimming qualifications and a good deal of experience with teaching very young children, decided to set up her own business, primarily to teach water survival and safety techniques.

This remit has now expanded to cater for more advanced swimming tuition to ASA standards.

In addition to the safety benefits, swimming has been shown to be important for strengthening the immune system, muscles and bones; it aids coordination skills, and is beneficial to interaction with other children. Health visitors recommend it from an early age – children are able to swim before they can walk!

Small classes in warm surroundings provide for a positive experience for children and parents. As a mother of four young children, Carrie has an excellent understanding of her young clients needs and how to best communicate her teaching instructions in order for them to realise their full potential.

To enhance the experience and maintain an exceptional safety record, classes are limited to between four and six depending on age and ability.

Swimming creates great opportunities for interaction with other children, and can play an important role in the bonding process between parent and child.
